Spay/Neuter Program
Approximately 3.7 million animals are euthanized at shelters
each year due to pet overpopulation. Shoals PAWS feels that having your pets
spayed or neutered is the best way to reach the goal of a sustainable no kill
shelter in our local area. (For more information on spaying and neutering,
please see our page “Why Spay or Neuter?”)
In order to have your pet spayed or neutered, there are
several options to consider:
***FIRST***: Check with your personal veterinarian. He or she knows your pet best and should
be the first person you contact with any care your pet needs. If cost is an
issue, many vets may offer payment plans or run specials during certain months
for services such as spaying
***SECOND***: Contact NORTH ALABAMA SPAY NEUTER ASSISTANCE ASSOCIATION, INC
a low cost 501(c)3 non-profit spay and neuter clinic located
in Huntsville, AL. For many pet owners, this clinic will serve as a quality,
low cost alternative to meet the spaying and neutering needs for their pets.
The clinic is located on the south bound side of North Memorial Parkway, just 1
block south of Mastin Lake Road. It is across from Gander Mountain.
**Prices: Male dog- neuter: $55/ Female dog- spay: $65
Male cat- neuter: $35/ Female cat-$45
***All animals must have rabies shot or proof of current rabies***
Rabies shots are $10 if proof not provided at time of surgery
There will be an extra charge for large or
giant breeds, pregnant females or cryptorchid males. Always discuss the final
cost with the clinic.

and grants, PAWS is able to offer spay and neuter assistance to certain
qualifying members of the Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin community.
Eligibility for this program is based upon financial assistance and funds
available in the spay and neuter fund. Please fill out the spay and neuter
